Mohamed Al-Hamdani

Passionate advocate, dedicated public servant, and experienced attorney running for Montgomery County Treasurer.

 

With a career that has included serving as the President of the Dayton Public School Board, an immigration attorney, and a community influencer, Mo's mission has always been to foster positive change.

Background

​

Mohamed Al-Hamdani's journey began as a young refugee from Iraq, arriving in Dayton in 1992. Despite the hardships, Mohamed found a welcoming community that nurtured his growth and development. After graduating from Wright State University and the University of Dayton School of Law, Mohamed used his skills to serve the US Department of Defense, training Iraqi military and police forces.

Experience

​

  • Cultural Advisor for the Marine Corps: Developed cultural and linguistic training for Marines deploying to Iraq.

  • Director of LEAD (Leaders for Equality and Action in Dayton): Worked with local officials on transportation, education, job training, and economic development.

  • Operations Manager, Montgomery County Human Services Levy: Managed a campaign supporting over 50,000 children and families, leading it to a successful victory.

  • Chair, Montgomery County Democratic Party: Provides leadership and strategic direction for the party, supporting local and county candidates and initiatives.

  • Board Member, Miami Valley Fair Housing Center: Advocates for housing rights and social justice.

  • Immigration Attorney: Recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star for his work with immigrants.

  • Dayton Business Journal Forty under 40 Hall of Fame Inductee: Honored for his contributions to the community.

As County Treasurer, Mohamed aims to leverage his extensive experience in public service and community advocacy to ensure fiscal responsibility, transparency, and the effective management of county resources. He is committed to fostering economic growth and supporting all residents, particularly the most vulnerable.
